5 things that are objectionable

Filed under: Uncategorized — sassinak @ 12:23 am

.
a few weeks ago when the ‘flag this blog’ option appeared in the navbar bubbles was the first to point it out. In response she posted 5 things she finds objectionable and challenged us to do the same. I didn’t have much to say then so I stuck it in a corner for a night when what I wanted to blog about wasn’t something I could really say.

which is happening a lot lately. conclusive arguments have been made for the starting of another blog but i have another idea. i think i will write the posts and stick them in a corner and then post them at a time when whatever it is is SO irrelevant that noone will have a fucking clue what it’s about. I mean my posts aren’t really time related anyway.

currently i’m typing two posts at once and editing my okcupid profile as directed by several friends. apparently my cheery nature is hidden by the cynical nature of my wordage. whatever. anyway what’s funny about this is that i can barely move my freaking fingers [so of course i think i’ll go climbing tomorrow {riiiiiight} somewhere in between a job interview, teaching a class and a bb king concert when all the while I can’t use my arms! I crack myself up.

Also? SO STOKED about BB KING! What a fucking fantastic birthday present othercat came up with this year! I yearn to approach playing drums the way bb plays guitar.
.

okay 5 objectionable things

1) cops who don’t follow the traffic laws while driving. especially irritating are lane changes without signals and tailgaiting. (tailgating?)

2) neglect or harm toward children or animals.

3) men who will work for weeks to get a woman into bed and then drop her like a hot potato the next morning. what did i do to deserve that i ask you? [note this was years ago… ]{and it was some damm good sex too which made it even weirder}

4) shouting your opinion more and more loudly so you don’t have to listen to someone who may actually know something about it.

5) boys on matchmaking sites that send ‘hello’ emails and then expect me to do all the work. Uh dude… you messaged me!

every one bubblelicious said in her post that’s linked from the title although my inner environmentalist is secretly delighted at gas prices. also almost every one that was mentioned in the comments on her post… and one more just because:

6) playing that night vision video of those people being shot and the bullet tracers and *shudder* in iraq over and over during a stanley cup hockey game that kids were CLEARLY going to be watching. *I* was horrified and traumatised. I should be allowed to CHOOSE what kind of violence I expose myself to dammit! More than that I should get a choice when my kids are involved!!

Okay I know I don’t have any kids but there were kids watching that hockey game in the same cafe i was in and I was offended on their behalf as much as mine.
.

That’s pretty much it for objections and my day. As for tag… hrm..

I tag (always) othercat and castufari and this week I also tag light strikes a deal, natalia and dzer! :)

  6. I have to say….. this is hard! But here goes.

1.) When the federal oil reserves are opened and the price of a barrel of oil drops but the local gas station hikes the price $2.00 a gallon hoping I don’t pay attention to the news. That pisses me off!

2.) Women that write that they want to meet new people in there personal profiles on dating sites but act like your an axe murderer if you even hint at an actual in person meeting.
    That pisses me off!

    3.) Pat Robertson.
    enough said

4.) People that go the movie Day After Tomorrow (which sucked on a level that is equiv. to an actual natural disaster), leave the theater and immediately sign up to win the Special Addition Hummer in the Lobby.
That doesn’t piss me off so much as just make me shake my head.

5.)Last but not least, when there is banana slices or some other bull shit ruining perfectly good jello. Or when it looks like a homemade chocolate chip cookie but its really a homemade raisin cookie.
    That pisses me off!

  7. Oh and

6.) The spawn of Satan. Otherwise known as George W. Bush. He should fuck Pat Robertson and see if they come up with a child to run as the next Republican Canidate for President.

  8. Ahh,
I like this last one, if only because even if they DID have a kid, poor George and Pat would never be able to get married in the USA.
    IRONY!!
    FORBIDDEN LOVE!!!
I’m betting that the spawn of George and Pat would be a rebellious hippy.
    Serves them right.

  9. God, Imagine the press conference if they DID get married!!
George and Pat, sitting in front of the press gallery, holding hands. Laura sitting next to George, eyes puffy, the twins staggering drunkenly in the background. Speeches about how George and Pat had noticed each other years ago, but they’d never felt that they could do anything, what with George so busy running the war, and Pat with his congregations. Still, love would conquer all, and the Republican party would stay strong and united.
I’d get a little misty, I know it.

I wonder what sort of service they’d have?

    Tee hee!

  10. dammit i posted a reply to this and it’s gone.

light dude i fully agree with your objections… that said I find it hard to complain about the price of gas as it may encourage less gas guzzling cars… and since oil is a finite commodity that we’re burning up for no fucking reason other than being too stupid to find a fuel source that’s sustainable…

    raisin cookies suck.

    pat and george suck more.

johnny… man… that wasn’t fair. I am actually PICTURING this wedding in graphic detail now because you went to such lengths to describe it. I feel mentally traumatised by this *grin*

to go bouldering or not to go bouldering before bb king…

  11. Sass, I am with you on the gas thing but it’s killing me. I drive and hour oneway to work everyday. Its not like I didn’t look for work closer to home either (because I did until I could no longer afford to be unemployed) There is a little satisfaction in watching those giant SUV’s pulled up to the gas stations with the little yuppy pumping and frowning, pumping and frowning. But for most of them it just means that they will have to cut down on their latte intake. They can afford it! Or there stupid and could never truely afford it. The people that I feel bad for (other than myself) are ones that have to drive a long way to get and have a decent job but still aren’t rich. I see these people coaxing their rusty Toyotas and Neons down the expressway. Bumperstickers on the back that say things like “Green, its just better!” Their the ones that are getting royally screwed. Them and me:-)
P.S.- even if tomorrow there was a car that came out that burned a completely renewable souce of fuel with zero emmissions, I couldn’t afford it until it was old enough to be considered ecologically unsound for the environment and mechanically unfit for the road.

  13. i’m one of those people… i’m coaxing my 13 year old honda with 290,000km on it down the road every day. lucky me it’s a honda and still gets 33mpg (that’s what the grand rapids fillup worked out to… i got an even better one with the next tank but i digress) but one of these days some part is going to fall out onto the road and I just won’t be able to fix it and suddenly i’ll lose half my teaching work. For now I just need an oil pan and a windshield… (and a tranny and a clutch but nurse nurse nurse!)

Still I watch those fuckers in their suvs and I think haha! at least my car doesn’t cost over 100 bucks to fill.

cars are such a ridiculous and inefficient way to get around.

and yeah, bb king rocked… more on that in a moment

  14. My 1994 is at 141k…I’m about to explore taking a bus or riding my bike to work. The state is going to have to get me a car, I’m no longer taking my own. Too expensive and the return isn’t worth it.

I saw someone spend $113.00 for gas the other day. They didn’t look happy either, I didn’t laugh since I spent almost $60.00. I am reevaluating my driving, time to turn off the AC and SLOW DOWN.

George and Pat get married? The result would be something that would require multiple flushes. :D

    tag responded to. :)

  15. oh man castu… you’re evil and so right.

i’m even contemplating slowing down but i get phenom gas mileage even at 120kph so i’m not too stressed.

    113 USD??? *gulp*

and you’re right, never drive your own car for work if you can help it.
