hairpin turns

.
ah it’s one of the posts with no title when i start typing. i wonder what’s coming.

I went over to othercat’s house and basically ignored he and his brother to watch the leafs get trounced by philadelphia. and i have a terrible confession to make. no i mean like SO embarrassing.

yeah.

it’s true.

i like eric lindros.

*hangs head in mortification*

*pauses for some killer dark chocolate with bits of candied coffee*

[yeah you bet your ass you should be jealous, this shit is SO GOOD!]

i like eric lindros.

*and*

*dies of shame*

he’s so god damm cute.

i just can’t believe that i like eric lindros but i do. he stepped up and he’s playing well and he’s clearly got his heart in it. I mean i suppose i can consider forgiving him for that whole nordiques incident since in return he didn’t get a stanley cup ring…

it’s just that he played for the flyers. for like a long time. and i don’t think he should be playing because seriously the guy’s head is so fucked when he gets a little older.

and still i’m happy to see him on the ice. the guy really is that good.

it was like (pauses to check google) 15 years ago or something now, i mean i’ve changed a lot since then i guess i can let him change… it just feels funny is all. It’s a habit not to like eric lindros… i’m used to it or something. i don’t like having to build new thought patterns about things like this. Things like this are fixed. Tie Domi rocks as does doug gilmore. eric lindros sucks and mike modano is a fully delicious man. These things are known. One doens’t have to consider them or wonder about them.

Like the villain in a harry potter book. you know who the bad guy is before you ever turn the first page.

Now if she made harry the bad guy? *that* would be surprising. but not as surprising as ME liking eric lindros.

Also, this is turning into a hockey blog on saturday nights…

Tough shit, if you don’t like hockey you probably shouldn’t read my saturday night posts!

:)

  1. I am so sorry to hear that you now love Lindros!!
I mean, you really hated that guy, spit every time you said his name, railed at the hockey powers that be that they would slap the beautiful and pristine Maple Leaf logo on that big whiny baby!!
But, yeah, he’s pretty good, eh?

Modano has goofy buck-teeth and a horsey face.

Who’s your replacement hated player now Sass?
    Jagr? Pronger? Who?!

I LOVE the Saturday hockey report!
It’s a good feature for the non-canuck readers.

  6. kath: he’s even cuter when he’s playing… one of those guys who doesn’t ever quite come through in photos because you need to see his face being alive to really *see* it

try watching a leafs game sometime just to see him play (#88)….

or watch soudan (#44) in montreal *droool*

  7. lol Hockey… We have the Sharks around here… I went to a few games over the years… i love the violence of hockey but… i really dont watch any sport on TV.

Comin to Cali? If you wait until late spring/early summer i’ll teach ya how to surf *s* Danny n I have been talkin about it… also about takin up wind surfing… never done that and it looks fun!

  8. chrissie: yeah they’ve toned down the violence ever so slightly too much. I really appreciate that hockey is now a fast and beautiful game again but they’re going a little far on the penalty calling.

you know how to surf? damn dude i REALLY REALLY want to learn. don’t tease me… cause if you live near surfing i’m moving in!

  9. Surfing’s the bomb! I’ll be buying a board when I get to LA. Haven’t done it in about 3 years, I’m looking foward to it!

BTW, one little hockey question: How the hell are they the Maple Leafs? Shouldn’t that be Maple Leaves? ;)

And regarding predictable bad guys in Harry Potter, what about Sirius Black? Didja see that one coming?

Heh, sorry, just feeling contrary today. :D

Said board has a HUGE gash in it now. :(

  11. hey you two

quit teasing me with the sport i’ve wanted to learn since i was a TEENAGER!

    geeze

and yes, it should, but it’s like star trek… they should ‘go boldly’ but that doesn’t sound good at all now does it?

  12. Sorry, I won’t tempt you with any more pics of goodness from the Hook.

    The Hook:
    http://maps.google.com/maps?q=buxton,+nc&ll=35.227392,-75.550575&spn=0.052753,0.155903&t=k&hl=en

Farking long URL. So much fun, so overlooked. Such a sucky walk if you don’t have a 4×4. When the winds are blowing out of the NE this area can be all offshores depending on where you’re at. It’s cool.

If the Maple Leafs get bought out and have to move, then they’ll be the Maple Leaves, amongst other things.

Nothing like fresh ‘za with tomato, garlic, basil and some cheese (mozzarella and assagio).

  13. dude i steal photos you know… they become my desktop images. i steal them off blogs and websites and home pages and dating profiles and and and :)

i’ll steal whatever those are when i get home.

damm you now you’re teasing me with FOOD!

    the leafs are not moveable.

  14. guam has some of the most underrating surfing in the world … I know at least 4 people who moved here in the 70s and 80s expressly because of the surfing and they just hung around and still surf.

while we don’t get the crazy surf like pipeline and australia and parts of cali … what’s unique about Guam is there are drop-offs where you go from shallow water to unfathomable depths … when the waves come in off that giant chasm of deeps and hit the reefline … well, the surfer guys tell me it can be ungodly stuff that doesn’t happen anywhere else :)

  15. who would buy the maple leafs?

america hates hockey…you canadians are their last dying hope of having a professional sport.

least till russia gets cable tv….of course

  16. buttah …. we’ve been buyin’ all the other hockey teams that have left the beaver nation LOL

    Comment by DZER — October 24, 2005 @ 9:42 am | Reply

  17. dzer: that was before the nhl started losing money and took a year off.

also, the leafs are a sellout team in a city that’s loved them for years… they will be the last canadian team to move trust me on this one :)

you’re teasing me so i’ll come visit aren’t you?

buttah: i wouldn’t say hates… but sure doesn’t care for like baseball or whatever…

    Comment by sassinak — October 24, 2005 @ 10:00 am | Reply

  18. There isn’t enough attraction to hockey to make it work in a lot of places. Here our hockey team moved when the city had an offer from some NBA (basketball) group. They upped the rent on hockey, limited the days they could play (and practice). Hockey moved. Basketball? Not enough interest. It sucks.

What else rolled through here. Oh, arena football. 2 games and they went the way of the dodo (the bird, not our current president).

Several years ago we had a race track (it was small). The owner wasn’t making money AND the place sat on a flood plain. Some private group bought it, gave it to the city for 99 years provided they used it for a park. Cool by the majority of the people since we don’t have to listen to cars racing around in circles every summer weekend. Some of the racing fans filed a lawsuit over this saying that their one outlet for entertainment had been killed off. Bye bye.

Baseball does well here since the team is good and the field (McCormick Field) was featured in Field of Dreams. Parking is whereever you can find it. Thirsty Thursdays are the ticket, cheap beer. Great to watch those who just turned 21 get bombed and puke.

In the US I’d like to see more hockey and soccer.

  19. ok, now that i’ve mastered the art of football i think i can move on to hockey. i’m trusting you and murph to help me out with this, sass!

    Comment by Teresa Naomi — October 24, 2005 @ 11:39 am | Reply

  20. cast: that bites dude… i’m sad you have no cool sports around although it sounds cool to have a nice park anyway…

also, basketball is boring. there’s no net minder and it’s too easy to score.

teresa: for sure, i can tell you where all the cuties are!
