profilez part deux

.
okay the list has been narrowed and the semi-finalists are as follows:

A:

B:

C:

D:

E:

F:

i have definite feelings against two of the above but will put them in for voting with willingness to be swayed since y’all have to look at them. i do get veto and tie-breaking of course :)
.

i’m feeling a little strange or odd or off lately. i could say discombobulated but stonednerd already thinks of it as my word so you know, i have to share the discombobulated love…

what makes this oddness sort of hard to pindown is that i have to sort out the difference between hormones and actual emotions. being female my body takes me on a little trip down emotional mood swing lane for a week out of ever four. what this means is that mood wise i’m basically like vancouver.

(in vancouver they say ‘if you don’t like the weather wait five minutes’)

if i’m down or sad or maudlin or off or odd or whatever? i have to wait a week to see if it turns out to be that time of the month or if i’m actually feeling that way. it makes it really hard to make decisions about anything that has any kind of emotional quotient.

there is nothing worse that going off all ranting and mad and then two days later realising it was your hormones taking a dive off that bridge for you. and sometimes? even if you tell your brain that it’s hormones?

it goes into deep denial and tells you you’re wrong. it claims to be sane and rational. it’s sure those pesky hormones can’t possibly be why it wants you to chop someone’s head off with a cleaver.

it’s a brain, it’s functional and logical and smart. it’s the new mark three brain that doesn’t have emotional responses that are triggered by hormones.

i wonder if denial is a hormonal response?

the point is that this makes discerning your own feelings extra difficult. it helps to have some awareness of your cycle but that’s kinda fluid anyway. and it helps to know your response to things like hunger or tiredness.

so i’ve been feeling kind of odd and a little down and i’ve been kind of waiting to see how i felt after i figured out where i am in my cycle or after i ate or slept or worked or didn’t work or recovered from my cold or or or.

except that i think that this has been an ongoing underlying thing for a while now.

i think i’m feeling vaguely disatisfied and i can’t really figure out why. i’m hoping it’s just that it’s time to move out of my apartment or that poverty sucks or that i need to get laid but i’m not sure that’s it.

i think that maybe there’s something more up and i haven’t figured out what it is.

ah well, it’s saturday and i have some hanging with my best friend to do and i’m sure this crap will sort itself out as it wills.

happy voting!

  1. i still like F the best but that’s because i’m partial to the girls-with-bangs-in-the-face look.

i noticed none of your new series of shots had the bangs action goin on. what gives?

  2. i thought F might have some fans, it’s why it’s in the semis :)

my bangs are shorter now and don’t always land in my face. it depends how my hair dries. in this case they dried back…

my hair was short to my ears in between those shots you know :)

  3. B & D. Hands down. Sorry all but if you disagree with me, yer wrong.

  4. Gotta say B is my favorite….but then again, I am a HUGE Grendle fan and wait for posts about his accomplishments and antics….I think he needs his own blog !!

In D, you have a little playful look…kinda like you know something that no one else knows…maybe the secret of life?? If someone was just nice enough or smart enough, they could wriggle that secret out of you.

However F is who you are to me, that great hair that leaves you looking mysterious and sexy…not to mention are you outside in that shot.

Pick your fav….they are all little glimpses of the sassy one.

  5. I’m a newbie to your blog but I wanted to vote anyways. I have to vote for F. It is mysterious and playful and sexy. Seems like you are hiding something and that is very interesting.

  6. I’m gonna stick to my guns and say “D” again. Just the right balance of seriousness and silliness trying to come through…which is important on those days when you post a comment to a serious topic (or create a serious blog of your own) and you don’t want a big mile-wide smile on your face. “D” is dignified and smart. And I like it. So there, and stuff. :-)

  7. As the photographer, I should be disqualified from voting. Nevertheless, I don’t care about these sorts of niceties. I cast my vote for E with the one with Grendel a close second. But that’s just because he’s a grade 1 grad already. New pic for St. Paddy’s on my blog.

  8. hubris: *giggle*

    this is fun.

grainne: i got othercat to post a grendel pic for you :) well asked nicely anyway. you should agitate there for grendel blogdom, it’s much more likely.

if i knew the secret of life i would tell anyone who asked. maybe that’s the secret :)

well i sorta have fondness for f, it was the first one ever. i could be one of those bloggers who just never ever changes their pic…

    thanks!

twisted: welcome to my corner of the blogverse, comment anytime.

maybe i’ll take a fresh bangs in my eye pic and drop it into the finals…

scorp: well everyone gets an opinion, that’s why there’s voting. i like your reasoning actually, it’s good for if i’m being a bitch on someoen’s blog. they’ll add in a fun factor *grin*

    and stuff yourself.

othercat: vote on! i like e too. okay i liked most of them for differing reasons.

  9. i’m still loving A. though E’s a good one too. and who of us doesn’t love good old F?

and you know, half the battle against the vague dissatisfaction is recognizing it’s there. cliched, i know, but it seems true.
you’ll sort it all out in time.

    Comment by terry — March 18, 2006 @ 11:19 pm | Reply

  10. I still think ‘F’ rocks, it’s a classic shot, all mysterious and sexy and outdoorsy, all very ‘you’ traits.
If you have to change, I like the new silly shots.
I love you with Grendel, so ‘B’ gets my top vote, but ‘A’ is also very good. Thinker poses always work well when philosophisating.
If you need to go more Business and Bay Street, go with ‘E’. Calm and intelligent, not wacky, but still friendly just the same.

Change for change’s sake can be a very good thing, liberating, but don’t be embarrassed to change back to the old ways, if the new ways end up being lame and smelly.

Love from the US of A!

    Johnny Roadtrip

P.S.: Maybe you can make a whole pile of Sass emotion pics, and post them like those weather graphics on TV. Things cloudy, post a little pic of confused Sass in your entry. Things sunny and warm, post a little pic of happy Sass. Thunder and Lightning storms, Sass with a knife.
    Etc.

  11. terry: there is some temptation to just leave the original pic. and it seems that i’m not the only one who thinks that.

i guess you’re right, i just wish i knew what was unsatisfying me.

johnny: yeah f is a classic for sure. i guess i can just take more pics until i see one that i just love.

change is good but so is classics… it’s tough.

ew for lame and smelly! are you implying that i need practise bathing? :)

are you having fun on your trip?

you know i kind of like that last suggestion except for how much work it sounds like… man imagine if i had a me with a knife pic!
    rofl!

  12. I love A…or F, both have a little mystery about them, the first one is what your thinking, the second one is what you look like!!! If I comment again does that count as two votes?

    Comment by debambam — March 19, 2006 @ 7:54 am | Reply

  13. I like F … if you’re going to go new, I’m with A … :)

  14. puppy pic!!!

  15. Ok, what kind of voting involves the candidate having final veto power? SO not a democracy here!

That said, I still like B and A (in that order) but C is such a genuine happyface that it’s worth a notable mention.

    Comment by JMai — March 19, 2006 @ 10:53 am | Reply

  16. deb: yup… but it counts as two votes this way too. you know i think f might be running away with it…

dz: yeah a is kinda funny and impish which i like.

elle: hee i’m shocked that you would like a puppy pic.

    also? WELCOME BACK!

JMai: the kind where she has to look at the damm picture too? :)

i find c a bit chinny but i totally get what you’re saying. and i like all of them so it’s sorta hard :)

    Comment by sassinak — March 19, 2006 @ 11:38 am | Reply

  17. C and B. Ya look sassy. :)

    Comment by Matt Vella — March 19, 2006 @ 12:18 pm | Reply

  18. I can’t see them through my tears…none of my fav’s were picked. So, now…hmmmm…I’ll have to go with a through f. And THAT is my final decision!

The hormonal thing…I’ve tried some of the estrogen otc stuff that’s really helped me. Depends…did your mom go through the change early? You might ask, could be a heriditary thing…was for me.

    Comment by kathi — March 19, 2006 @ 12:43 pm | Reply

  19. matt: that i are :)

kathi: i’m sorry, i went with the votes and tossed in one that i liked :)

hee way to pick them all… i sorta feel the same way.

really huh? that’s interesting. what’s the brand that you liked?

nah my mom was pretty late… you do seem pretty young for the change though?

  20. If you used F as a pic on America’s Most wanted, and walked around looking like A-E, you will never get caught.

  21. shocking that i’d go for the one with the adorable pooch in it eh?!

i’d actually go with the one of you in the black or red from the toil and trouble post.

    just a suggestion :)

    Comment by da buttah — March 20, 2006 @ 9:05 am | Reply

  22. I second Buttah’s suggestion!

    mwhahahahahah!!!

You’re awesome, and It’s good to see you are in touch and countering some of your feelings that others misunderstand.

Life is about patience, patience is about life.

I wish I took my own advice sometimes. HEY, if I had to choose one of the above profile pics, it would be the one with the puppy.

    *HUGGS*

  23. I pick c or d too. We’re all about the pooch :)

    Comment by Amber — March 20, 2006 @ 10:45 am | Reply

  24. cas: it’s true actually. though someone might recognize the eye… or not since in one pic it’s green and in the others they’re brown (they’re green)

elle: nope, not at all :)

interesting suggestion. i’m starting to think there is no clear winner :)

    emma: you would! *grin*

i’m workin’ on it anyway, i don’t really know what it’s from but i got some interesting feedback which is getting me thinking a lil…

noone takes their own advice dude, that’s the fun of it all. as for the profile pics i might declare it a wash since everyone likes all of them except F which is winning…

amber: yeah he’s adorable isn’t he?

    Comment by sassinak — March 20, 2006 @ 1:46 pm | Reply

  25. Hey, what about the profile that I used for the IC portrait of you? You look h to the o to the t, hot in that picture.

    Comment by Light Strikes A Deal — March 20, 2006 @ 5:39 pm | Reply

  26. i do?
i thought i looked ambiguous and profiley

shows you that noone ever likes their own pics… and noone should be allowed to judge their own pics.

tell you what, next time i do that i’ll include that one in the voting (though it’s pretty outdated now…)

    Comment by sassinak — March 20, 2006 @ 7:53 pm | Reply

  27. Outdated is a relative term. It’s quite up to date in comparison to the current profile picture.

    Comment by Light Strikes A Deal — March 21, 2006 @ 4:03 pm | Reply

  28. well yes that’s true… i’m hoping something will magically appear and i’ll just slide it in there and people will react like it’s always been there cause it’s so clearly the ‘right’ thing :)
