pilates woman!

Filed under: Uncategorized — sassinak @ 11:53 am

.
i meant to post this last night but i feel asleep mid-sentence practically.
.

dear pilates;

i love you do you know that?

i mean first of all i’m not certain that words can express my undying gratitude to you for giving me my body back. and then? you cap that off by handing me a new direction in life.

there i was, completely trashed and hopeless, watching the scale go up and up and up and then blammo. you handed me rr. she inspired me to follow in her footsteps and spend my life making people feel better.

i can’t imagine a better direction. i really am happy most every day. now i just need to learn to harness the PMS and how find clients when i start losing them.

someone i wasn’t very nice to made these great pics of me as pilates woman:

and i just love them.

in fact i would start a comic with her except that i didn’t design her and i’m already too busy. still she rocks.

this is what happens if your exercises aren’t done:

there pyrhonik… not quite the cape but… :)
.

in other news i went to see the neville brothers tonight with othercat and svdw and her man m. it was a really surreal sort of evening. first of all i decided to wear my new skirt and here is a late night pic that othercat snapped with his camera phone [as usual feel free to try and fix it]:

already i was feeling a bit weird because this showing off four inches of belly thing is very strange for me. but still i did it because the skirt looks shitty if it sits anywhere else.

so then we go down to harbourfront to this beautiful outdoor stage that sits on the water and about a minute before the opening act (roxanne potvin, quite good by the way) this enormous clap of thunder comes out of the lake somewhere and the entire audience jumps a foot.

for serious it was SO loud.

anyway it rains a little and the show goes on and whatev right?

so then the nevilles come out and i head to the back so i can dance my little face off and slowly but surely the rain starts to seep in so i start to sort of move up the aisle and then it’s pouring and roxanne (yes the opening act lady) and i sort of look at each other and we decide to go dance at the stage.

she’s like “can we”

and i’m like “if we go everyone else will”

so we do. and for one glorious song there’s all of three of us up there dancing and i am shaking my ass like a champion. and then the rain REALLY hits and the entire back rows head up to the stage… but the instruments are getting soaked.

so the boys take a couple of minutes, wait for the squall to pass and then aaron comes out and starts to sing in his unbelievable voice… and the audience stays. so instead of your usual boring and staid toronto audience who can go and see buddy guy and SIT through the fucking show?

oh yeah they’re dancing in the aisles for the nevilles. i mean that band is SO good i even say some white boys dancing well! (kidding kidding come on)

it was awesome. the rain made for such a better show it was unbelievable.

such a stellar evening.

happy hnt…

y’all got my navel… and my cape ;)

yeah she totally rocks… a guy i met from online did that but he had the misfortune to get me in raging pms mode.

i really have to schedule dates better…

i had a blast, the nevilles ROCK. and some guy after walks up to me and says ‘you should be illegal in three states’ and then asks me to be in his group photo!

well i always wanted to do jennifer aniston’s hair and mine would NEVER do it… so whatev right?

matt: hee… it is super cute isn’t it?

madame: yeah it cracks me up. and i love it too.

And dude…I so want to do pilates. I just don’t have the time and I know I won’t commit.

I suck. I know. I totally want to and I know where there is a will, there is a way…but that one should be altered to: where there is a will there is a way, unless there is also a dissertation.

    Ummm yeah.

  8. jmai: yeah i loved her too and i’ve wanted to post her for ages and then i forgot and then pyrhonik made a crack about my tights and cape and i remembered!

    it was wicked.

kathi: yeah it was awesome, the neville brothers are SO good it’s unreal. i’m so glad that my happy makes others happy too… i can’t think of a better gift.

nat: thanks! i’m having a hard time with it.

    hee

well so you don’t commit, every little bit helps so do a little when you can and don’t feel guilty about the rest.

whatever, you’re busy and you have priorities… but try to find two hours a month and then slowly up it from there.

    one percent a day right?

regardless, DON’T feel guilty, that just makes it harder to start.

  10. That is a great skirt!!

I’ve been wanting to get into pilates, but just haven’t done it yet. Is it hard when you first get started??

    Comment by April — June 29, 2006 @ 5:51 pm | Reply

  11. puffin: hee… that was kinda the point *g*

april: thanks! i got it at pride, those folks make the best tie dye i’ve seen yet… except for this guy in napa…

pilates rocks and has the interesting property (if your teacher doesn’t suck) of getting harder the longer you do it. so no… but it gets harder fast.

it’s more a language thing at first… but as with any exercise the key is to be sure to listen to your body and not try to ‘impress’ the class

  12. You’re my new superhero desktop! These fuckers at work think I’m nuts for laughing at the computer screen all the time anyways!

Absolutely luvvin that 4″ of navel! You really shined the place up!

Buddy Guy rocks! “there ain’t no midnight train!” I have a lot of him music, and I was busted up when I missed him in Edmonton. He played a vendor that holds 300 people max! That woulda been incredible! Still pissed that I missed it. I hope he lives to come around again. He’s one of the last of the old Blues Greats.

I can really picture you up on the stage dancing! Sounds like a great night. Especially when you add that just after it rains smell in the air!

  13. sounds like you had a blast, darlin’ …

and sometimes there’s nothing better than to just sit, stand, walk … or dance … in the rain.

  14. pyr: nice. that will make the man who made them very happy i think. isn’t it awesome?

you’re welcome. i’m feeling a bit shy but i’m wearing it again :)

oh man we saw him at massey hall a few months back with betty levesque and he brought the house down. i think half the women there would cheerfully do him and he’s in his seventies.

oh that would have rocked. and yes, yes he is.

i wasn’t on the stage i was beside it… right beside it :) and yeah, it rocked!

    dzer: ahh did!

    truer words were never spoken

  15. Damn, I keep coming back and that picture does not get less cute. If anything, I’m having covetous type thoughts.

If you need someone to, you know…um. Hm… what could I do. I know. I could be your personal belly button maintenance person. I’m willing to make that sacrifice, but hey – that’s what friends are for. Really, they are!

  16. matt: you know that’s why i posted it, i just liked it so much… even though it’s blurry, fuzzy and all i just don’t care :)

i’m glad you’re having covetous type thoughts, it’s nice to know someone is. and it confirms my theory about me and italians :)

i would consider allowing you to make that sacrifice… after i meet your wife :)

  17. hehe

he could be the assistant to your belly button; you know get it lotion when it needs it, rub it and keep it clear of lint!

    hehe :)

  18. hunee i think my belly button would like having an assistant.

course other bits of me might get jealous and then i might need a collection of assistants…

    mmm :)
